Home Remedy

Home Remedy by Chuck Rice © 1985

When I was just a little boy and I would skin my knee,

Doctor Mom would make it well with her home remedy.
Kiss the hurt and make it well, the doctor worked for free.
Castor oil and chicken soup, Mom's home remedy.

Then I grew up and moved away and Mama said to me
Don't forget we'll always be your home remedy.
Then I went off to battle to keep my country free,
The land it burned and my heart yearned for that home remedy.

Chorus:
Mix lots of friends and good times with places that you know.
Add Mom and Dad and one true love and stir the mixture slow.
Now take a heapin' teaspoon and pretty soon you'll see
Nothin's better for the soul than that home remedy.

I married my one true love she means so much to me
She added something special to that home remedy
Now I'm far away from home again and lonesome as can be
But nothin's better for my soul than that home remedy.

Mix lots of friends and good times with places that you know.
Add Mom and Dad and one true love and stir the mixture slow.
Now take a heapin' teaspoon and pretty soon you'll see
Nothin's better for the soul than that home remedy
